Tired of rum and cokes? Burnt out on 7 & 7s? Switch up your booze routine with these five easy to make, unique drinks.
Dr. Jager
- 2 ounces Jagermeister
- 5 ounces cherry soda
Pour Jagermeister and cherry soda into a tumbler witch ice and stir.
This is called a Dr. Jager for a reason: when mixed correctly it tastes like Dr. Pepper--with a kick. It’s nice and sweet and the cherry soda dilutes much of the alcohol taste from the Jagermeister. These go down easy so make sure you don’t have too many. Also, make sure to use cherry soda, such as Jones Soda Cherry or Boylan’s Black Cherry, not cherry cola.
Rocket Fuel Punch
- 2 gallons Hawaiian Punch Red Fruit Juice
- 2 liters ginger ale
- 2 cans frozen pink lemonade
- 1 bottle 190 proof Everclear grain alcohol (substitute the 150 proof version in states that outlaw the 190 proof)
A large drink cooler or large punch bowl is needed for this recipe. Pour the Hawaiian Punch in first, followed by the ginger ale. Next add the frozen lemonade. Finally add the Everclear and stir thoroughly.
This is a great drink for large parties and can be made on the cheap. It’s very sweet, but deceptively strong. Two cups and of this and you’ll be sky high, but don’t go overboard.
Hard Root Beer
- 3 ounces of Captain Morgans Original Spiced Rum
- 12 ounces of A&W Root Beer
Pour rum and root beer into a chilled mug or tall glass and stir.
Everyone has heard of rum and coke, but if you want try something a little different (and a little tastier) try a hard root beer. The spices in the rum and the root beer mix perfectly to create an incredibly smooth cocktail.
Godzilla
- 2 ounces whiskey
- 3 ounces Mountain Dew
- 2 ounces lemonade
Pour whiskey and Mountain Dew into a tumbler with ice and stir. Top off with lemonade.
It might seem like these ingredients wouldn’t mix well, but they do. The Mountain Dew and lemonade provide a citrus taste, but it doesn’t completely dilute the whiskey. There’s still a sour, vaguely smoky aftertaste.
Mexican Prairie Fire
- ¾ ounce tequila
- ¼ ounce hot sauce
Fill a shot glass ¾ of the way full and top off with hot sauce.
This is not for the weak of heart. Some people have a hard enough time getting a shot of tequila down, add hot sauce to the mix and it could be trouble. On the other hand, if you want a little giddy-up in your step this is the perfect shooter.
